Lewis Latimer – Latimer was an inventor and draftsman who worked with Alexander Graham Bell to improve the telephone and with Hiram Maxim to improve the light bulb.

Garrett Morgan – Morgan invented the gas mask, a life-saving device used in World War I, and the three-way traffic signal, which revolutionized traffic control.

Jan Matzeliger – Matzeliger invented the shoemaking machine, which significantly improved the speed and efficiency of shoe production.

George Washington Carver – Carver was a scientist, inventor, and agricultural chemist who made important contributions to agriculture and developed hundreds of new products from peanuts and sweet potatoes.

Benjamin Banneker – Banneker was a self-taught astronomer, mathematician, and inventor who built the first clock in the United States made entirely by hand.

Elijah McCoy – McCoy was a mechanical engineer who invented the automatic lubrication system for trains, revolutionizing the railway industry.

Otis Boykin – Boykin was an inventor who developed numerous electronic devices, including the control unit for the first IBM computer and the first wire-guided missile.

Sarah Boone – Boone was an inventor and seamstress who invented an ironing board that made ironing clothes easier and more efficient.

Mark Dean – Dean was an inventor and computer engineer who played a key role in developing the IBM personal computer and was named an IBM Fellow in 1995.
